SPIRITUAL PRACTICES/DISCIPLINES

By Pastor Gitahi Daniel, CFF Donholm.

•There are daily spiritual practices that we cannot run away from as Christians if we want to mature in the things of the spirit.
•A spiritual practice is something you do, not something you are. If life calls for us to be disciplined, so does the matters of the spirit.
These practices include:

1. Meditating on God’s word. (Psalms 1:2, John 15:7)
•Meditating on something means thinking about something carefully. After hearing the word of God, we ought to meditate upon it, after which we memorize and apply according to our understanding of it.
•For instance if the word says ‘love your neighbor as yourself’ a believer needs to ponder on what this really means and think carefully through it evaluating all the possible elements.
•As believers, we are founded on the Word of God; we need feed and act on it daily as Jeremiah puts it in Jer 15:1 ‘i ate the word.’ •Meditating on God’s word means dwelling on it, chewing it and rolling it over in our minds inorder to apply it in our lives.
Psalms 1:2, John 15:7

2. Thanksgiving. 1 Cor 5:18.
The will of God for us is to be grateful in EVERYthing. Rom 8:28 says all things worketh for good for them that love God. •This includes good and bad things alike. Giving thanks is a daily spiritual practice we ought to do even when it seems quite ridiculous.
Are you going through challenges? Give thanks. Are you jobless/in pain/deserted etc? Give thanks.
Psalms 100:4

3. Prayer. (1Thes 5, Romans 12:12)
•Prayer is life and life is prayer.
We cannot and we will not do without consistency in prayer. Pray Persistently passionately gratefully and selflessly.
Phil 4:6 reminds us not to be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and Thanksgiving, we should make our requests known to God.

4. Brethren Fellowship. (Heb 10:25)
•Born again brothers and sisters must congregate in the House of God inorder for them to grow and edify body of Christ.
•The kingdom of God calls for unity and togetherness among brethren because no believer will make it out of this alone. •Everyone has a role to play in the Church. Some are cleaners, others support the ministry financially, others lead in services etc.

5. Giving. (1 Cor 16:2, 2 Cor 9: 6-8)
•A service is never complete without giving. It is not a wonder that giving makes it in this list of spiritual disciplines.
•It is not how much you give, it is the motive that matters and this is why Jesus commended the poor woman who gave 2 cents in Mark 12:41-44 because she gave all she had.
•There are so many scriptures that back on giving because it is a Kingdom principle. The measure you give is the measure you receive. Without giving there are areas you will never get to because giving has its own grace.
•Pay your tithes, give offerings at the altar, support God’s work, not by being forced or coerced or sorrowfully. God loves a cheerful giver.

Make the above spiritual practices a daily habit. Your growth in the things of the spirit is dependent on what you incorporate in your life as a daily routine.
Feed on Jesus who is the bread of life daily and see the obvious shift in your life as a kingdom seeker.

ROAD TO CALVARY. (GABBATHA)

Pastor Gitahi Daniel, Christian Foundation Fellowship Donholm

• Gabbatha/gathering is basically where Jesus was taken after Gethsemane. Unlike Gethsemane, Gabbatha was a place of gathering where He was in the midst of enemies, mockers, scoffers and deserters. •It was characterized by scoffing and trial.
•In greek, Gabbatha means stone pavement. This phase was like a high raised platform where everybody could see the one who was been tried, Jesus.
•At one time in Gethsemane, an angel was sent to strengthen Jesus when He was in agony. At Gabbatha God did not necesarily desert Him, but He went silent- no angel was sent.

Here is a breakdown of what Jesus went through at GABBATHA.
1. Jesus suffered at the hands of sinners, John 19: 1-13. Jesus, an innocent lamb of sacrifice, ironically fell into the hands of sinners over and over in the journey of redemption.

2. Jesus was despised and rejected of men Matt 26:47. The people apprehended Him. They just yearned to see Him suffer though they had no reason for it.

3. Judas betrayed Jesus while the disciples deserted Him. At the moment when Jesus probably needed them most they were nowhere in sight. Matt 26: 47-56.

4. Jesus was beaten by the temple guards, Luke 22: 63-64.
It was not a just beating. It was the worst beating anybody has ever had to endure ever. His whole body was disfigured. You see Jesus was whipped 39 times, with a special kind of whip, which had 9 others attached to it. This means He received a total of 351 whips. That is not all; each set of 9 whips was attached to curved hooks at the end. With each whipping, the 9 hooks dug into Jesus’ flesh and the curved part would tear through His flesh- His body was like a ploughed piece of land. No wonder Psalms 129:3 says, ‘The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows.’
When we sin we surely take Jesus through this pain and public disgrace all over again.

5. Jesus was rejected by the very people that He came to save. Matt 27:17- 25, John 1:11. They asked for the release of a well known criminal, Barnabas, and shouted even louder when Pilate said he had found Jesus innocent. The prophecies had to be fulfilled.

6. Jesus was scourged. He was flogged severely while everybody watched right after they had demanded the release of Barnabas. Matt 27:26

7. Jesus was mocked by the soldiers and crowned with thorns. Matt 27:26- 29
The soldiers made a mockery of Jesus in the sense that He was the King of the Jews. After stripping him off, they put a robe on Jesus, put a staff on His right hand and most painfully, set up a crown of thorns on His head. They would kneel before Him and call Him names, spit on Him and as if that was not enough use the staff they had put in His hands to push in the crown of thorns. It tore through the inside of Jesus’ flesh and blood splashed out. Jesus took this painful crown so that we can take beautiful glorious crowns after this life‐ only after we have fought the good fight and kept the faith.

8. Jesus was condemned to die. John 19:13-16. Though there was no charge against Him, they still condemned Him to death.

•This was not the only pain our Master Jesus went through. His beard was also plucked out from His face. Isaiah 50:6 says ‘I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.’

Throughout the journey of redemption, Jesus shed His precious blood in seven major ways. Three of these happened right here at Gabbatha:
1. When He was crowned with thorns.
2. When He was wounded all over through severe beating.
3. When He was bruised internally.

Gabbatha in a believer’s life.
•Believers have to go through this phase just like Jesus. Maybe your beard wont be plucked out but there are things you will have to go through- they are not meant to break you.
• You are visible to everyone at Gabbatha. Everyone will watch from a distance as you suffer.
• You meet the difficult people at GABBATHA. They will mock, insult, despise and spike you again and again. Dont get discouraged. It is just a phase.
• People will laugh at you but then be quiet.
• The closest people or rather those you hold dearly will deny and reject you. When Jesus was under trial, the vision carrier, Peter, was outside denying Him.
•You will be sorrowful at Gabbatha. People will hide their faces from you.
•God will be silent. It doesn’t mean He doesn’t care. Remember you have to go through this phase.

This was not easy to take. Imagine all this pain and more not for Himself but for us. God the Father watched all this from His throne of mercy and didn’t dare move this cup an inch. Are you born again? While there is still time grab the chance. The blood of Jesus is so fresh to wash away any amount of sins. Give it all up for Him today!

At Gabbatha Jesus was unmovable. Although innocent, He did not even defend Himself. He knew that He had to go through all that pain for a while but then the glory would come.
Next will be Golgotha. Follow through the road to calvary right here

GOOD FRIDAY.

Pastor Gitahi Daniel, CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIP (CFF) DONHOLM.

Is good Friday really a good friday? •From pain, agony, sweat, blood and tears to humiliation, rejection, denial, betrayal, public disgrace and loneliness.

•Whatever Jesus went through when He took the redemption journey cannot even be described. I’ll try to paint a picture:

•Imagine the pain if your beard had to be plucked out. I didn’t say cut off, i said plucked out. Imagine been beaten until your body looks like a ploughed piece of land?

•Imagine a crown of thorns piercing through the flesh of your head. Have you ever been mocked and scorned by the same people you were trying to save? That is just the tip of the iceberg. As i said words are not enough to express the unimaginable excruciating pain Jesus bore on this humiliating yet very necesary journey.

•Follow through our new series titled “Countdown to Calvary” that premiered this week right here, as we unravel the painful details of every step our Lord took so that God’s wrath would be satisfied in His son’s cruel death.

•From GETHSEMANE a place of grief and travail to GABBATHA a place of betrayal and desertion. To GOLGOTHA, to the GARDEN TOMB to GLORIFICATION; we will look at each of this places in depth and their significance to us as believers.

One thing stands out for sure; we were bought at a heavy price (1 Cor 6:20.)

•As the world faces a pandemic today, Good Friday is here to remind us we need to search deep inside ourselves to see whether in a way or another, we have been putting Jesus through public disgrace all over again (Heb 6:6.)

COUNTDOWN/ROAD TO CALVARY. (GETHSEMANE)

The 5Gs.

By Pastor Gitahi Daniel, Christian Foundation Fellowship (CFF) Donholm Kenya.

•We are in the Easter season and hence the mesage on countdown to Calvary is quite timely. There are 5 main places/phases that Jesus had to go though characterised by shedding of blood, excruciating painful moments, mockery, rejection, betrayal, loneliness etc, inorder to save mankind from God’s wrath.

•According to John 3:16 God Himself sent His son to die the most humiliating death ever inorder for His wrath to be satisfied. His love for a rebellious and sinful man was demonstrated through His sinless son, Jesus Christ.

•The journey to redemption began at a place called Gethsemane, from where Jesus was taken to Gabbatha then to Golgotha, to the Garden tomb and finally He was Glorified.

•We also go through these places when we get born again as believers. Follow through the 5Gs or rather the road Jesus took to glorification and how we go through the same today.

GETHSEMANE.

•After fasting for forty days, Jesus got into active ministry. He did miracles, healed, cast out demons, raised the dead, taught the word etc but then the moment came when He had to go on a journey, ‘the oil pressing journey.’

•In Aramaic, Gethsemane means ‘oil press.’ It also means travailing moment. Jesus came as the fresh oil that had to be ‘pressed’ inorder to lay the right foundation for us as today’s Church. •There are key things that happened at Gethsemane:

1. Gethsemane was a moment of pain and suffering for Jesus. It was an hour of satan, an hour of travail. He so suffered that He prayed to God to move the cup of suffering from Him. Imagine being so troubled that instead of sweat, drops of blood fall from your face to the ground.

2. His precious blood was first shed here. He lay upon cursed ground. In sweat and sorrow, He won the victory over sin and its curse. Let me take you back a little bit: The first man, Adam, at the garden of Eden committed sin and there man was separated from God. He hid himself from God behind a tree. The second Adam, Jesus had to get the first Adam from behind the tree. The word says that His blood at gethsemane fell to the ground (Luke 22:44) This means that it had to cleanse the ground from sin, as a result of what the first Adam did.

3. This was also where Jesus was betrayed. Matthew 26:47. Judas was one of the 12 and for Him to be the one to betray Jesus was something heavy on Him. Jesus knew that this moment was coming and He really needed to pray.

4. Gethsemane was a place of prayer. Matthew 26:36. He asked the disciples to keep watch with Him for He was greatly troubled. When the disciples slept, Jesus had His face to the ground seeking God the Father’s will for Him.

5. It was a place of temptation. Gethsemane was an hour of satan where he tried to tempt Jesus not to go through the journey meant to reconcile man to God.

6. It was a place of God’s will. God’s will was that Jesus would go through all this pain. While He could have easily removed the cup of suffering from Him as Jesus prayed, God did not do it. An angel was sent from Heaven to strengthen Him (Luke 22:43) Please note that Jesus was a perfectly spotless lamb of God who was slain to remove the sin and not to cover the sin.

7. Gethsemane was a waiting room. Jesus had to persevere through the pain, sorrow, blood, tears and sweat. As painful as it was Jesus did not give up, He knew that it was necessary no matter how painful it was to wait in agony.

How we go through Gethsemane today.

•When we start our own salvation journeys we can never skip Gethsemane, the travailing phase. It however does not last long, we are required to wait and persevere through this sorrowful process. We start learning to trust in God from here.

•Our former bad selves are done away with. We are pressed all former thorns and thistles. This includes bad old habits like lying, gossiping and all manner of sins.

•At Gethsemane, you will pray that God gets the cup of suffering out of the way. You will also be tempted to pray against people opposing you.

•At Gethsemane you will be betrayed by the closest people to you. You will be ‘kissed’ in the face and get stabbed in the back. This is very important because you cannot go to the next stage without a Judas. They dont come to kill you rather they act as a bridge. Dont treat them as your enemies. Notice that Jesus referred to Judas as friend when he came to betray him? Matt 26:50

• At Gethsemane you learn to fully trust in God and God alone. Jesus trusted in God such that He asked His Father to move the cup of suffering not in Jesus’ will but in God the Father’s will. You will be alone so that you can learn to trust only in God.

God says ” Keep my word in a travailing moment, i will keep you through the temptation.” Gethsemane is therefore a moment of pain where you prove your love for God.

☆From Gethsemane Jesus went to the second place called Gabbatha. Stick around for our other post on the same.

10 QUESTIONS JESUS ASKED.

By Pastor Gitahi Daniel, Christian Foundation Fellowship (CFF) Donholm Kenya.

•There are ten main questions Jesus asked throughout His ministry. They were not just vague questions, they served a purpose.

•Most of them were addressed to the twelve and today the questions pose a challenge and instill hope to the disciples of today, us.

1. Who do you say i am? Matt 16:15. This question was addressed to the twelve. Jesus wanted to know whether they understood who the son of Man really was. In these times, who is Jesus to you? Are you just mentioning Christ or do you know Him too well to do His will?

2. Do you believe? Matt 21:22. These times call for undivided belief in Christ. Pray in faith. Live by faith. Christ is the hope of all glory.

3. Do you want to get well? John 5: 1-6. Jesus is always ready to heal and make situations better no doubt, but He is asking a simple question today; do you want to get well? In His name all diseases and challenges bow.

4. Why are you so afraid? Matt 8:26. When the world is panicked and in distress, it should not be the case with those who know Christ. If you are afraid it means you have little or no faith. Do we really have a reason to be afraid when Christ has already assured us that He will never leave us?

5. Why did you doubt? Matt 14: 26 -31. Simon Peter had faith he would walk on water just like Jesus. Halfway through, he started sinking, after allowing one big enemy of faith, doubt, to get in. Many believers are sinking in life today because they have allowed doubt and the other enemies of faith namely unbelief, fear and the storms of life to distract them. In the midst of this storm, the least we can do is keep the faith that the one who calms storms has never changed; we just have to relax and wait on Him. Rom 8:28 makes it clear that all things worketh together for good, for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose. Do you love God? Then why do you still doubt?

6. Do you still not see or understand? Mark 8: 17. The disciples were troubled because they had forgotten to bring bread and had ony one loaf. Interestingly, Jesus had just fed the 4,000 not too long before this incident. Why do our eyes still not see and why is it that our minds do not conceive that we have Jesus the bread of life? We ought to loosen up and not harden our hearts so that we can see and understand who Jesus is and what He truly does.

7. What does the Scripture say? Luke 10:23-28. Let us go back to the Word of God, it is the only truth. If the scriptures tell us it is going to be okay, then we dont have a reason to waver in faith. We are built on the scriptures.

8. Are you also going to leave? John 6:66. Jesus had just been deserted by everyone including the 120. He was addressing the disciples wondering if they too wanted to leave. The question is: when people turn against the Gospel today, when the world cannot persevere anymore? Are you still going to stick around?

9. Who touched me? Mark 5:33. This lady touches Jesus’ cloak in a big crowd and He feels some healing power leave Him. The lady was healed immediately. While the disciples did not quite understand what Jesus was referring to, He, Jesus, knew that this touch was different. Who is going to touch Jesus today until He turns to look? Who is going to make their way through the crowd vehemently until they get to Jesus? He is ready to release power, but there is a condition; we must touch Him.

10. Do you love me? John 21: 15-17. Addressed to Simon Peter three times, this is the same thing Jesus is asking us today. Remember the scriptures say that those who love Him keep His commandments. Do you really love Jesus? In the midst of the challenges and hardships will you still stand up for this kingdom? For this gospel?

As mentioned, these questions served a purpose. For us, the purpose remains. In this context, we ought to look at these questions critically and think through what our Lord Jesus is challenging us in.

TEN THINGS TO FOLLOW IN THE NEW TESTAMENT.

By Pastor Gitahi Daniel, CFF Donholm.

☆There is a set of ‘follows’ instructed to us in the new testament, which is the new covenant we are all in. If we are keen to do and follow exactly what the word of God says, we will surely not have a reason to be separated from our God.

1. Follow Christ. Matt 4:19. Follow Christ and He will in turn make you a fisher of men. The first step is to follow Christ, the second is to follow in His footsteps. We got born again to not only inherit eternal life, but to also go out there and spread the Gospel and win souls for our God. Following Christ calls for self denial. In Matt 16:24, the word tells us that whoever WANTS to follow Christ MUST deny themselves, carry their crosses and follow Jesus. Christ called upon the rich man in Mark 10:21 to sell everything he had inorder to follow Him. Matt 8:22, Luke 9:23, John 21:17-19

2. Follow Holiness. Heb 12:14(b) Without holiness nobody will see God, whose very nature is holiness. Christ did no sin. We don’t have a choice; if we want to see this Sovereign God ,we MUST be holy.

3. Follow Peace. Heb 12:14(a) Be at peace with everybody. Follow peace with your neighbours, family and all men. Blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called the sons of God, Matt 5:9. Isaiah 48: 22 says that there is no peace for the wicked, if you want to live peacefully be holy. Peace and holiness are an item.

4. Follow meekness. 1 Tim 6:11. Matt 5:5 says ‘blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.’ While humility is seeing oneself as lowly and the absence of superiority, meekness is being quiet and gentle especially in situations that could easily push you into reacting. The scriptures describe Jesus as very meek. Most of the time He never defended Himself out of situations. Please note that being meek does not mean that one is weak

5. Follow patience. 1 Tim 6:11. It is the ones who will be patient to the end who will be saved. Just be perseverant in tribulations. Rom 12:12 says we should be patient in our afflictions.

6. Follow faith. 1 Tim 6:11. There are many kinds of faiths in the world, including false prophecies. Follow the right faith. The Bible says that the righteous shall live by faith, nowhere does it say they shall live by prophecy. This does not mean that we should despise prophecy, the Bible tells us to weigh it instead. Read the word of God and have your faith activated.

7. Follow Godliness. 1 Tim 6:11. If you are not Godly, you are worldly. Live a Godly life and dont lust after the ways of this world. 1 John 2:15 cautions us against two things not to love: the world and the ways of the world. Though we are in the world, we are not of the world. As believers we ought to take the Church to the world but not the world to Church.

8. Follow righteousness. 1 Tim 6:11. 2 Tim 2:22 Strive to be right with God. Flee everything that separates you from being right with Him. Run with those that call onto God out of pure hearts. Matt 5:6 says that blessed are those that hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled.

9. Follow good. 1 Thes 5: 15. Dont pay evil with evil remember you are Christ like. If you are required to engage in something that does not glorify God, just say no and follow that which takes you closer to God. If it does not please God, it is wrong. 3 John 1:11 says that we should NOT immitate evil, but that which is good. Those who do not follow good do not KNOW GOD. Paying tithes and giving offerings are also included in the goods we ought to follow.

10. Follow Love. 1 Cor 14:1, 1 Tim 6:11, 2 Tim 2:22. God is love. This means if we have God in us we demonstrate that which God is; love. Love everybody even those that you think do not deserve it. Imagine what a great love Christ demonstrated by giving up His life for ours. Intrestingly, our very first follow in this write up is Christ hence, follow Christ who is love.

“But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. “1 Timothy 6:11

WHAT JESUS REQUIRES OF BELIEVERS DURING THE END TIMES.

By Pastor Gitahi Daniel, CFF Donholm.

“We are at the very beginning of birthpains.” This is a statement that we would rather not hear but then it does not change the fact that prophecies MUST be fulfilled.
•Sadly, many believers will not take in these difficulties. Their love for Christ will grow cold. They will shrink back.

•On the other hand, some of those who did not know Christ formerly, who have not always had the privilege of the Gospel, will hear it, hunger for it, surrender and be saved.
•Matt 19:30 says ‘but many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.’
Woe unto those who will fulfill prophecies.

☆There are 3 profoundly deep statements that Jesus puts across for us that can help us live through these times; keep the faith and finish the race. Our love for Christ does not have to grow cold no matter what we face.

1. Come after me. (Mark 1:17) we must deny ourselves everything else to stick with Christ throughout. One thing a believer should know is that without Christ, these times will only be harder for us to conquer. We cannot figure this out on our own, we need to drop everything and allow Jesus to lead the way.

2. Come onto me. (Matt 11:28) Jesus calls upon us to cast our burdens only to Him. He promises to give us rest. His yoke is light and if we lean on Him He gives us strength to push through and peace that surpasses human understanding in the meanwhile. Cast everything unto Him, you cannot really finish this race well when you are burdened. Dont cast your burdens onto your friends, parents, siblings, spouse, pastor etc, only Jesus Christ will lighten this up.

3. Remain in me. (John 15:4) He definitely does not take pleasure in those who shrink back. If we remain in Him, He gives us the strength to fight on for without Him we will not achieve anything. If the hour comes and finds us asleep spiritually, we’ll miss the train. Those who keep the faith to end will be saved.

Heb 10: 37-39.
Just a little more time and the one who is coming will be here. The righteous shall live by faith. Verse 39 says that you and i do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed.

Hold on. You don’t want to miss the train.

PRAY. PRAY. PRAY.

By Pastor Gitahi Daniel, CFF Donholm.

•The whole world is being called upon to fast, pray, repent and seek the face of God in the wake of the epidemics that have recently hit the world. Prayer is vital in a believer’s life, it should be a way of life or rather a basic need. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us that we ought to pray without ceasing. There are certainly no shortcuts; if we MUST win this race, we MUST pray. Have you prayed today? Pray again.

How to pray effectively.
1. Pray in faith. Without faith we cannot please God, Heb 11:6. While prayer enables us to climb the mountain, a prayer made in faith enables us to move the mountain. Which is easier? Climbing the mountain or just getting it out of the way? Have faith that God hears, listens and answers.

2. Be holy. If we want our prayers to be really effective we MUST be holy all through. Inquities separate us from God and prevent us from being heard and answered. The scriptures say that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Confess your sins to God and rectify that which can prevent your prayers from reaching Him. Matt 5:8, Heb 12:14

3. Pray in the name JESUS CHRIST. Notice i specifically said in the name Jesus Christ not in the name of Jesus Christ. This is the name above all names that was given to us, it is so powerful that even demons bow down to it. We exercise power and authority over evil, dark powers, attacks in the name JESUS CHRIST. Mark 16:17, Luke 10:18, Acts 4:12, Phillipians 2: 9-11

4. Pray in the Spirit. Romans 8:26 says that we dont know what we ought to pray for but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. If you want to pray in the will of God, pray in the Spirit. Allow the Holy Spirit to give you materials. Note that praying in the Spirit does not necessarily mean praying in tongues, although every believer ought to pray in tongues because it is Spirit to spirit communication (topic for another day.) What then does the Holy Spirit do? 1. He leads us in all truth. 2. He teaches us things of Christ. 3. He reminds us of Christ. 4. He reveals things to come.

5. Speak and plead the blood of Jesus Christ in prayer always. We got into a new covenant with God through the blameless blood of Jesus. Do not ever fail to speak that covenant in prayers over your life, health, family, work, nation etc. The blood redeems, heals, offers divine protection etc, and the devil knows it too well; he will have believers overlook its importance. Rev 12:11(a) says ‘ They overcame him by the blood of the lamb.”

6. Quote scriptures in prayer/Make Scriptural confessions. ‘For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword,’ Heb 4:12(a)To understand what a powerful weapon the Word of God is, ask yourself what does a sword do? Now what is a sword sharper than a double edged one capable of doing? There. When quoted rightly, the WORD OF GOD can put to flight whole force of demonic/satanic entities. The word of God is one of the pieces that make up the armour of God in Eph 6: 11-18. Without a sword, a soldier will definitely lose the battle. Hence, read the word every other day and get well acquainted. Let the Voice of God sink in word for word. Matt 22:29 ‘Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.’

Have you prayed today? Pray again.

THE SIX LOOKS ACCORDING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT.

By Pastor Gitahi Daniel, CFF Donholm.

As believers, there are areas in, out and about our lives we should be really concerned about. They help us get closer to God, run the race to the end, keep the faith and emerge winners. Follow through what i like to call “the six looks in a believer’s life.”

1. Look up. (Heb 12: 2)
Look unto Jesus the author and the Finisher of your faith. Dont waver in faith. There are many distractions in this life. In this life you will encounter trying moments and challenging situations but keep your eyes up on Jesus.

2. Look back. (Rev 2:5)
Look back from where you have fallen. It means looking at the areas in your life where you have probably backslid as a Christian, and repent immediately before it is too late. Change and dont go back down that path.

3. Look inwards. (2 John 1: 8) (Heb 12:15)
Look to yourselves and search your interior. Look to it that you do not fall short of grace of God. If you find that you lack peace, it means you are falling short of grace. You would want to look in the inside and see where you are dwindling. Note that the grace of our Lord is ours in abundance. It does not matter if you are going through challenges such as rejection and lack, the peace of God is always with a believer who is right with Him.

4. Look outwards. (John 4: 35)
Look out to how you life glorifies God. Be a soul winner. Look out for your neighbor. Be cautious of what you do; even Jesus in all His glory and perfection cared to ask the disciples what others thought about Him. (Matt 16:13.) Who do people say you are? Can people really testify in your favour? If your home neighbours and brethren in Church were tasked with describing you would they give the same analogy? Are you the same person in Church and at home? Note that as believers we should be the salt and light of this world (Matt 5:13,14) Be salt. Be a City. Be a Light.

5. Look down. (James 4:6) (1 Peter 5:6) (Matt 23:12.)
Humble yourself and you will be lifted up. God exalts the humble and brings down those that exalt themselves. One of the principles of God’s kingdom is; decrease so that He increases you, go down so that He lifts you up. Dont take God’s glory, let His glory be upon you. Do not be seen let Christ be seen in you.

6. Look forward (2 Peter 3:14) (Titus 2:13) (Heb 9:28.)
We look forward to a new Heaven, the Rapture, the Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, our final flight and an eternity by God’s side. Focus. Dont be distracted by the many cares of this world, just look forward to where we are headed as a people who are called to be holy and in right standing with God.

Look up, look back, look inwards, look outwards, look down and look forward. You will be Christ like; glorious in this life and the life to come. Live holy. Christ is coming soon for a spotless people.

END TIMES (Difficult times)

By Pastor Gitahi Daniel,

• We are clearly in the very last days. Infact we are in the overtime. Time is long over, our merciful Father is just giving the world another chance to escape judgement. The menace that has recently hit the world in the name of Corona Virus is another clear indication.
• The disciples asked Jesus about the rapture and the end of times, to which He answered broadly in the 24th chapter of the book of Matthew.
• Luke 21, Mark 13, Luke 17 also outline the events at the very end. Luke 21:11 specifically talks of earthquakes, hunger, pestilences etc, exactly what we are witnessing today. What other end is the world looking out for?
• 2 Tim 3 talks of difficult times that would come. These times would just be a pointer to rapture, the snatching away of the saints.
• Far from it, those that will not make it to be raptured will have to go through very perilous times i.e the tribulation and the great tribulation after which will come eternal torment. The difficult times the world is going through currently is just the beginning especially for those who will not be raptured.
The Difficult times. These are the times we are facing currently, they are challenging enough but not as difficult as what will follow. Rapture will take place here.
Tribulations. The times after the difficult times. This will happen after the rapture. People will be forced to take the no. 666. This period will last for 3 and a half years (Rev 16)
Great tribulations. The angels in Revelation will pour out God’s wrath, this will also go for 3 and a half years. Death will have no power and everybody will have to face the wrath, not of man but of God.
Everlasting torment. Each person under Gods judgement will be thrown into the lake of fire forever, where there will be gnashing of teeth and a forever too painful to bear.

We’ll look at the times we are currently in in a deeper sense:
THE DIFFICULT TIMES
• Jesus clearly told us what to expect in the last days and no wonder we are witnessing all that is happening around us. It is not to be taken lightly; the scriptures are been fulfilled.
• It goes without saying that the current lockdowns and curfews all over the world are having a toll on the economy, money does not circulate as it should and people are going hungry.
Matt 24:7 ‘For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.’
• Rev 6:8, Luke 21:11 are some additional scriptures that echo the same sentiments on hunger. Ebola, flus and now Corona virus are just a few examples of pestilences that Jesus was talking about. The following are some of the eminent signs of the end that the world is seeing during this difficult times.
1. Increase in crime (Matt 24: 12.) People are clearly lawless today with the greed for money, for instance, pushing them into cold blood murders. Today, we are witnessing man to man/ woman to woman relationships, an abomination, in the name of human rights and freedom of expression.

2. Ruining of the earth by mankind. Rev 11:18. Instead of taking care of God’s creation like man ought to as commanded by God, the earth is in great heaps of destruction. From leadership wranglers that have resulted in violence to destruction of natural resources.

3. Breaking down of families/ divorce (2nd Tim 3:2,3) We are obviously seen to what extent people are living their marriages to remarry in the name of freedom.

4. The love of God growing cold in most people. The former pure love for God witnessed in attending fellowships, overnight keshas, giving, prayer vigils, service etc is no longer there for most believers.

5. Display of religious hypocrisy. 2 Tim 3:5 There are many believers serving God in Church today but behind the veil they are doing abominable things. It is an open secret there are pastors sinning sexually with their congregants while still ‘preaching.’ How many altars are openly defiled today? How many are calling on the name of the Lord while their private lives are filthy? Take caution that you are not fulfilling the prophecy that in the latter times most people would be religious hypocrites.

6. Final alignment of nations. We are witnessing the global call to one world one nation. This is not a coincidence. It is a sign of how close we are to the end as stated in Rev 13.

Are you still doubting? Christ is coming soon. Put your house in order.
