We must balance our spiritual lives. It is possible for a believer to be powerful because they are prayerful but stagnate in their financial lives because they lack a heart of giving.
The truth is, no ministry can run without money. We are required to give our offerings and ministerial support for them to run efficiently.
Tithe is 10% of all that you earn. A believer who tithes is protected, provided for and one step ahead into the Kingdom of God. We dont give tithes, we pay tithes.
Tithe eaters will not inherit eternal life no matter how powerful they could be.
Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.”
Offering is not limited to certain amounts. It is therefore safe to say that the only time we give to God is when giving our offerings since our tithes do not count as offerings.
Your offering can/should be more than your tithes. Remember that our lives’ blessings are in our offerings. Give in every season.
The amount you will offer is dependent on your love for God and how much you understand the essence of giving.
Tithing was there before Moses and the law.
Before he even became Abraham, Abram gave tithes to the High Priest, Melchizedek. It is not an old testament practice that lost its meaning in the new testament.
In Gen 28:22, Jacob vowed to give to God a tenth of everything God would give him, if He would provide everything jacob needed in his journey to his father’s house.
Matt 6: 20 – 21 “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
MAJOR PRINCIPLES IN GIVING.
Giving is a MATTER OF THE HEART.
You and i should purpose on what to give in Church before leaving home the same way we plan before on what to wear.
Abraham gave from his heart.
If we truly honour the one who called us, we will give him back to honour him.
It is important to know that God is not a beggar. We are only giving back to Him what He has generously given unto us.
Giving is A FORM OF WORSHIP.
No service is complete without giving. We should give with enthusiasm the same way we lift our hands to worship or even clap for our God.
Giving is AN EQUALISER.
Remember the widow that gave little but from the heart? She didn’t give much like the rest but her offering was accepted by God (Mark 12: 41 -44)
She went home blessed than everyone else. The Bible says that Jesus watched as people gave their offerings. Know what? He still watches you and i as we fold our notes and put inside the collection bucket casually and without care.
It is possible to give much and still go home with nothing.
Many believers have missed their blessings because their giving was not accepted.
Giving SHOULD BE CHEERFUL.
God loves a cheerful giver (2nd Cor 9: 7(b)
We are supposed to give our offerings while dancing and singing with joy because we are giving to the the who blesses us.
It is MORE BLESSED TO GIVE than to receive.
Learn to give. Give in every situation and season; give love offerings, dedication offerings, ministerial support, first fruits, normal offerings, thanksgiving offerings, etc. The more you give the more you are blessed.
Please note;
– The spirit of generosity is giving from the heart.
– We give in liberty out of our hearts that is full love and grace. You have the freedom to know how much and how often to give.
– Giving aligns our hearts with God’s heart.
– A treasure cannot be stolen or rust away. It will only be multiplied. Giving in God’s house, will never incur any losses.
– Through giving, we enter into a place of sharing the divine nature experiencing the greatest joy.
– Work on your relationship with God first. Cain was rejected before his offering was rejected. Abel, on the other hand, was accepted before his offering ever was.
If your relationship with God is on the rocks, your offering is in vain.
Give. Give. Give.
